Situated in the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul, the company earned its debut award at the NYIOOC for a medium-intensity blend.
"This award is an important acknowledgment for the work of everyone involved in our project, and an incentive always to keep looking for the best," co-owner Matheus Costa De Boni said.
News of the award comes after a successful season for the producers in the historic region of Campos de Cima da Serra, in the northeastern corner of Rio Grande do Sul.
"We had our best harvest ever in 2023, with a great amount of fruit that was very healthy," De Boni said. "The weather was very good, and we had no problems with drought in our region."
Held annually in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
