Saf Toprak Awarded for Autochthonous Blend at NYIOOC
Turkish producer Saf Toprak has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
Though success and awards are relative, every struggle or every obstacle adds strength to Drop by Drop, just like the surrounding conditions impact the flavor of the olive fruit.

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Anatolia from Trilye and Edremit olives using traditional methods. Saf Toprak earned the Gold Award for its Drop By Drop brand, a medium blend.
"Though success and awards are relative, every struggle or every obstacle adds strength to Drop by Drop, just like the surrounding conditions impact the flavor of the olive fruit," Murat Egan, the company's CEO, said.
For the producers behind Drop By Drop, this year's award is even more gratifying after challenging climatic conditions in 2020 significantly lowered their yield.
"Last year, extremely high temperatures impacted blooming period negatively," Egan said. "There was a partial loss of flowers and decrease in the fruit set."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
