Azienda Agricola Gemma Wins NYIOOC Gold Award
Italian producer Azienda Agricola Gemma has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are proud to have won this Gold Award especially because it is the first time that we have entered this prestigious competition and this pushes us to improve our search for excellence. Next year, we will be even more motivated to enter the competition with our other monocultivar Moraiolo as well.

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 3,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in Lazio using traditional methods. Azienda Agricola Gemma earned the Gold Award for an organic medium Leccino.
"We are proud to have won this Gold Award especially because it is the first time that we have entered this prestigious competition and this pushes us to improve our search for excellence," owner Emilio Tomassi said. "Next year, we will be even more motivated to enter the competition with our other monocultivar Moraiolo as well."
The producer behind Gemma added that this year's award is especially gratifying after all the challenges the team faced during the 2020 harvest.
"The most important challenge we faced in the 2020/21 harvest was to try to maintain a high level of quality despite the various limitations we had," Tomassi said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
