Dr. Kavvadia Wins for Lianelia Monovarietal

4 years agoBy Masha Richart

Dr. Kavvadia Olive Oil took a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, their second win at the world's premier olive oil contest.

The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Greece from Lianelia olives using traditional methods.

The 2019/2020 season was marked by climatological difficulties, owner Apostolos Porsanidis said after receiving news of the award.

"Due to heavy rainfall during flowering and a very warm autumn, we lost a lot of crop and we had an early harvest," Porsanidis said.

The winning oil was Dr Kavvadia Olive Oil, an organic medium Lianelia.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
