Chateau de Luz from the United States has won two Gold Awards at the world's preeminent olive oil quality contest.

It is extremely gratifying to be recognized by such a prestigious organization.

The California-based producer earned awards at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a pair of medium-intensity blends: Athena and Venus.

"It is extremely gratifying to be recognized by such a prestigious organization," owner Sandra Austoni said.

Like many other California producers, Austoni said the company enjoyed a bountiful harvest of its Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo, Maurino, Kalamata and Pendolino olives, which also served as a challenge.

"We had an abundance of olives this year and we were not able to process all of it because of lack of people and crew and a machinery break down," she confirmed.
