Olio Infiore Marks U.S. Debut with World Competition Win

9 months agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Olio Infiore has won a Gold Award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

We have started to look at the U.S. market with some interest recently, so this award at the NYIOOC can be considered our debut, and we think that it couldn't get any better.

Tommaso Fiore, owner

Based in Puglia, Italy's most significant olive oil-producing region, the company earned the award for an organic medium-intensity Coratina.

"We are so proud and happy to be among the winners of this competition," owner Tommaso Fiore said. "We have started to look at the U.S. market with some interest recently, so this award at the NYIOOC can be considered our debut, and we think that it couldn't get any better."

In the 2023/24 crop year, Olio Infiore produced about 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from its 1,200-tree grove of the native Coratina variety using traditional methods.

"In the last few years, drought has become our main concern," Fiore said. "Our groves are equipped with irrigation systems, but the persistence of this condition inevitably raises questions about the future of agriculture and the sustainability of the process. Last year, we also faced a hail storm that destroyed two of our groves."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's preeminent olive oil quality contest. Its annual list of award winners is the authoritative guide to the world's best olive oils and the dedicated producers who craft them.
