Catalan Cooperative Behind Kylatt Celebrates NYIOOC Award
Grup Coopreatiu Fruits de Ponent from Spain has won its first award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Our goal is total sustainability in the field and in the oil mill. And always based on quality as a premise when making our extra virgin olive oil.
Santi Bonet, marketing manager
The Catalan cooperative earned a Gold Award for its Kylatt brand, a medium Arbequina.
"This is an international recognition of our work," marketing manager Santi Bonet said. "Awards like the NYIOOC help us internationalize our Kylatt brand."
Bonet added that this award was especially meaningful after the difficult 2022/23 crop year faced by producers across Catalonia and the rest of Spain.
"Our main challenge today is the global climate emergency," he confirmed. "Our goal is total sustainability in the field and in the oil mill. And always based on quality as a premise when making our extra virgin olive oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
