The Sicilian producer recently opened a new distribution facility in New Jersey and earned a Gold Award for its Val al Di Mazara 100% Organic brand, a medium-intensity blend.
The company also earned three Silver Awards for its Rouses Sicilian PDO and Rouses Sicilian Organic PDO brands, both medium blends and Balducci's brand, a delicate blend.
"These awards help us greatly in our endeavor to earn the business of many esteemed retailers in the United States," chief executive Salvatore Russo Tiesi said.
With groves in Sicily, the company produces organic extra virgin olive oil from Nocellara del Belice, Cerasuola and Biancolilla olives using traditional methods.
"The drought caused a significant challenge in producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil this year," Russo Tiesi said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
