Il Cellaio Wins with Tuscan Blend at 2022 NYIOOC

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Azienda Agricola Il Cellaio has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The Tuscan producer earned its first-ever NYIOOC accolade for its Olio Podere Cellaio brand, a medium blend of Leccino and Moraiolo olives.

"Our company is happy to be awarded in such a prestigious contest," said Tommaso Baldini, Il Cellaio's marketing manager.

"It was not an easy harvest year, but with passion and hard work we managed to produce a very good olive oil," he added.

Sprawling over 10 hectares in the hills outside of Florence, the producer attributed some of its success to the elevation of the groves and the terroir.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
