Olio Solum Wins 2 More Awards at World Competition

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Olio Solum has won two more awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

These awards mean a lot for the company and all the people working in it.

Antonio Gioacchini, owner

The Lazio-based company earned two Gold Awards for a medium blend and a medium Caninese. Both brands were previously awarded each year from 2019 to 2022, with the blend also earning a Silver Award in 2017.

"These awards mean a lot for the company and all the people working in it," owner Antonio Gioacchini said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Olio Solum used traditional methods to produce 4,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Gioacchini said the country's ongoing drought posed the most significant challenge during the harvest.

"The drought we faced during summer this year was the worst ever, but despite that, we could also reach this year's high quality," he said.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
