The Spanish company earned its first-ever award at the world's largest olive oil quality competition for an organic medium blend of Arbequina, Picual and Arróniz olives.
"We are very proud that our artisan work and personal care have resulted in a very good organic olive oil and recognized in such a globally famous competition," owner Enric Picanyol said.
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 2,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Picanyol said dealing with the climate proved to be the most challenging part of the previous harvest.
"There has been a very dry year here in Menorca," he said. "We had to take extra care in the spring but fortunately, we got it right. Subsequently, the drought affected the quantity but improved the quality."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
