AMG Karabelas Wins 2 Golds in World Competition
AMG Karabelas Family from Greece has won 2 Gold awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Olympia (Greece) from Botsikoelia, Koroneiki, Korileiki olives using traditional harvesting methods.
The 2021/2022 season was marked by significant challenges, the company's Owner said after receiving news of the award.
It was a demanding season with five months of drought and extreme temperatures posing significant challenges for growers, but finally we achieved what we set out to do — produce our premium quality EVOOs

The company earned a Gold Award for its Laurel & Flame Fresh, a medium Botsikoelia, and for its Laurel & Flame Olympia PGI, a medium blend.
"Our joy is immense," said Alexis Karabelas. "Winning at NYIOOC is the culmination of the harvesting season and the ultimate recognition of our hard work. A debut with a 100 percent success rate! It is only the second season that our new mill is operating and our first ever participation at NYIOOC, but we hit two out of two.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
