Vazart & Sons Credit NYIOOC Gold to Careful Planning
Italian producer VAG di Corti has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This year, there was pressure. I wondered if I was going to be able to repeat the success of 2019/20. Rome was not built in one day.

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Tuscany using traditional methods. VAG di Corti earned the Gold Award for its Vazart & Sons brand, a medium blend, which also earned a Gold Award in 2020.
"This year, there was pressure," owner Alexandre Vazart said. "I wondered if I was going to be able to repeat the success of 2019/20. Rome was not built in one day."
"I would like to find a serious distributor for the United States," he added. "I see a real future in olive oil produced in an artisanal way with real respect for the product."
The producers behind Vazart & Sons enjoyed a bountiful harvest in Tuscany, overcoming the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic with careful planning and methodical harvesting.
"This year the harvest was extraordinary despite the health restrictions," Vazart said. "We were organized and methodical. Every morning we harvested the olives and at the end of the afternoon, I was the first at the press. Everything went without any worries."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
