Testament Winery Awarded for Organic Oblica at World Competition
Testament Winery from Croatia has won its first-ever accolade at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
Located near the city of Šibenik, in a coastal part of Dalmatia, the winery earned a Silver Award for its organic medium Oblica.
"We are happy our effort and skills are recognized," said Juraj Sladić, the company's chief executive. "Also, the potential of our indigenous Oblica variety has been shown at its best."
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 1,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil from the native variety using traditional methods.
Sladić added that the extremely dry climate had made the previous harvest extremely challenging.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
