Brezza Tirrena Italia Wins Gold at 2022 NYIOOC

3 years agoBy OOT Staff

Brezza Tirrena Italia has won Gold at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Lazio (Italy) from Itrana olives using traditional methods.

"Having overcome so many obstacles these past two years to be awarded this highest honor is humbling, reassuring and inspiring motivating us to continue in spite of the circumstances," John Mancini, the owner of the company, said upon receiving the news.

Brezza Tirrena Italia won a Gold Award for its Olio Presto, an organic medium Itrana monovarietal produced in Lazio, Italy.

The 2021/2022 season was marked by significant challenges, Mancini admitted. "My master Miller was still recovering from a terrible case of COVID," he told Olive Oil Times. "Thank God he has had a full recovery."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
