Italy's Tenute Cristiano from Italy has won a second-consecutive award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

Based in Calabria, Italy's second-largest olive oil-producing region, the company earned a Silver Award for an organic medium blend of Coratina and Carolea olives. The brand previously earned a Gold Award in 2022.
"We are absolutely delighted to win this award," co-owner Isabella Cristiano said. "This is an incredible achievement and an international recognition of quality."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Tenute Cristiano produced 30,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. However, Cristiano said the company faced plenty of obstacles throughout the harvest.
"Rising production costs and inflation, together with a low yield harvest, have been the main concerns this year," she said. "Despite this, the care and constant attention we put in every facet of production have rewarded us with a high-quality extra virgin olive oil appreciated worldwide on the market."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
