Stara Teskera from Bosnia and Herzegovina has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
This award represents a great achievement both for us and the whole region. It gives us the confidence and support to continue with our passion and expand our limits.

The Herzegovinan producer earned a Gold Award for its Granic brand, a medium Istarska Bjelica. "This award presents a great achievement both for us and the whole region," co-owner Slaven Granic said.
"It gives us the confidence and support to continue with our passion and expand our limits," he added. "This is only the start for us, with time and further improvement, we hope to provide our product to olive oil lovers worldwide."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Stara Teskera produced 550 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"This year's biggest challenge was the struggle that came along with a prolific harvest, with an emphasis on the cold pressing of olives," he said. "Factories were overwhelmed with work, and parties that came last had to be declined because of a lack of time and workforce to process their oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
