The Extremadura-based producer earned a Silver Award for its La Huerta de la Vera brand, a medium blend.
"Winning at the NYIOOC is the most important recognition we could get," co-owner Jara Baztán Burcio said. "It is a reward for all the effort and desire we put into our work to achieve quality products. This award is a motivation of the highest level to continue giving our best."
In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 25,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using machine methods. Despite their success, Baztán said the harvest had been one of his most difficult."
"It has been a very difficult year with the extreme weather we have suffered and with the excessive rises in the prices of inputs and materials that cause a lot of instability," he said.
