Pruneti Awarded for Outstanding Frantoio

4 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Pruneti has won a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for an organic robust Frantoio.

Winning the NYIOOC prize is confirmation and recognition of the passion, care and sacrifice that we dedicate every day to our work as olive oil producers.

Paolo Pruneti, owner

The Tuscan company produces organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"Winning the NYIOOC prize is confirmation and recognition of the passion, care and sacrifice that we dedicate every day to our work as olive oil producers," owner Paolo Pruneti said.

"Knowing that our work and commitment is appreciated internationally is an important satisfaction for us and for all those in our company," he added.

For Pruneti and his team, producing award-winning olive oil is a year-round pursuit. Timing the harvest correctly is especially important, which the Tuscan producer attributes to this year's success.

"We take care of our olive groves 365 days a year," he said. "This has allowed us to closely follow the ripening process of the olive."

"We monitor the fruit throughout the growth phase to choose the perfect time for harvesting and in order to guarantee only the highest quality oils," Pruneti added. "In 2019 our timing proved to be perfect."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
