The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kranidi Argolidas, on the eastern tip of the Peloponnese peninsula, from a blend of olives using traditional methods. Papa's Grove earned the Gold Award for medium Koroneiki. The two Silver Awards came for a delicate Manaki and delicate blend.
"We feel proud, rewarded and motivated," co-owner Petros Papaspyrou said. "These awards keep our small family business committed to continuing to offer quality, honest products."
He added that the 2020/21 crop year had been a unique one in Greece, with plenty of challenges created by the climate and Covid-19 pandemic.
"It was definitely a unique year in many ways, with Covid and the movement restrictions, the inability to find the workers when you needed them and the lack of rain going into harvest time in the autumn," Papaspyrou said.
