The Sardinian company earned its first-ever 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a medium-intensity Nera Di Villacidro.
"This is our first time participating in the NYIOOC, and we are beyond thrilled to have won a Gold Award," said owner Kaitlyn Torlone.
"We are a small family company just beginning in this industry, and having this achievement means the world to us," she added. "We are happy to be able to prove that all the love and passion we put into our craft has paid off."
In the 2023/24 crop year, Obìa Olive Oil produced 2,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from the endemic Nera Di Villacidro variety using traditional methods.
"We are grateful to be on the beautiful island of Sardinia, where, luckily, our trees still managed to thrive this year," Torlone said. "Since we are a very small company, we were able to take extra care of our trees during this harvest year."
