Masía el Altet Wins 2, Extends NYIOOC Success Record
Spanish producer Masía el Altet has won two awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
This is a fantastic reward, especially after having spent the year dependent on the climate.
Jorge Petit, CEO
The Valencia-based company was awarded Gold for its Masía el Altet High End brand, a medium-intensity Picual, and Silver for its Masía el Altet Special Selection brand, a medium Changlot Reial.
"This is a fantastic reward, especially after having spent the year dependent on the climate," CEO Jorge Petit said.
In the 2019/20 season, Masía el Altet produced 50,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Petit saids that high humidity was the producer's biggest challenge during the previous crop year. In spite of this, Masía el Altet persevered, bringing their medal total at the NYIOOC up to nine.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
