Liocharis Awarded Again for Koroneiki Blend
Greek producer Liocharis Kefalonia Olive Mill has won a Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The Silver Award gave us hope for the future. It verifies that we do a good job, but also intensifies our efforts to become better.

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 1,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Kefalonia from Koroneiki olives using traditional methods. Liocharis won its second consecutive Silver Award for a medium blend.
"The Silver Award gave us hope for the future," owner DIonysios Garbis said. "It verifies that we do a good job, but also intensifies our efforts to become better."
This year's award is especially gratifying for Garbis after tough climatic conditions in 2020 complicated the harvest.
"The biggest challenge we faced was the high temperatures during the harvest and dry climate," he said. "This problem required special techniques in the mill to avoid emulsion."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
