Latini Wins Gold at World Competition

3 years agoBy OOT Staff

Croatian producer Latini has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

We are totally excited, very proud and happy. This is the best award for all our efforts. For us, as a small family business, this award means huge opportunities on the market and a top confirmation of our quality. It boosts our confidence and is an incredible motivation for our future work.

Matea Stanic, owner

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Latini earned its first-ever Gold Award for a medium blend.

"We are totally excited, very proud and happy," owner Matea Stanic said. "This is the best award for all our efforts. For us, as a small family business, this award means huge opportunities on the market and a top confirmation of our quality. It boosts our confidence and is an incredible motivation for our future work."

As with every other year, Stanic added that 2020/21 came with plenty of challenges. However, this did not stop her from planting new groves and betting heavily on olives and olive oil as the future.

"Every year is special and presents new challenges," she said. "We are paying attention to the quality, regardless of the quantity of extra virgin olive oil."

"Our new olive groves are our stake in the future and our family's vision is to enjoy the process of producing extra virgin olive oil and figure out how big our small farm can be," she added.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
