Despite Drought, OPG Kadić Triumphs at 2022 NYIOOC

3 years agoBy OOT Staff

OPG Kadić from Croatia has won a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The Dalmatian producer earned its first-ever NYIOOC accolade for its Slavomir brand, an organic medium blend characterized by chicory, green almost and grass tasting sensations.

Owner Ana Kadić said she was "very excited" and "very happy" with the result.

Despite the success, Kadić said the company faced plenty of challenges harvesting the Oblica, Levantinka, Leccino and Pendolino olives from its 250 trees. "The biggest problem was the past drought," she said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed on the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
