CARM Awarded for Two Outstanding PDO Blends

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Portuguese producer Casa Agrícola Roboredo Madeira has earned two awards in its debut at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

Based in Trás-os-Montes, CARM earned a Gold Award for its Praemium brand and a Silver Award for its Grande Escolha brand, both of which are organic delicate blends.

The producers partially attributed their success to the unique terroir, climate and olive varieties used in the blends, both of which are certified with Protected Designation of Origin status by the European Union.

Located in Upper Duoro, famous for its wines, the company planted its first vineyards in 1966 and later expanded to organic olive cultivation.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed on the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
