a year agoBy OOT Staff

Magran from Croatia has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

We are very happy. This is a recognition of our work and confirmation that we are on the right path.

Nikola Bodis, owner

The Istrian producer earned its fourth Gold Award at the World Competition for its Bodis brand, an organic medium-intensity blend. Bodis previously earned Gold Awards in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

"We are very happy," owner Nikola Bodis said. "This is a recognition of our work and confirmation that we are on the right path."

In the 2022/23 crop year, Magran produced 3,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from 4,500 Leccino and Pendolino trees using traditional methods.

"For now, we have no problems with harvesting," Bodis said. "We manage to harvest everything and mill within 12 hours."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
