Harrando and Co. Achieve ‘Milestone’ Award
Harrando and Co, a Moroccan producer, has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its organic medium Picholine.
We are so happy and proud. This is a great milestone for our little farm in Morocco. The passion of our family and the team have allowed us to do a great job and reach international standards!
Rachid Harrando said about the award
The award is the first one that the company has claimed at the NYIOOC. The company produced 2,500 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in the 2019/20 season, using traditional methods.
"We are so happy and proud," owner Rachid Harrando said. "This is a great milestone for our little farm in Morocco. The passion of our family and the team have allowed us to do a great job and reach international standards!"
He added that the 2019/20 season came with the usual challenges associated with growing olives in such an arid landscape, but the producer was able to make sure the trees received adequate amounts of water.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
