Marmaro Awarded for Outstanding Chalkidiki
Greek producer Marmaro has won a Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are a very new company and the Chalkidiki variety that we cultivate, although it is known for its large table olives, is not so well known for its olive oils. This award for the second consecutive year gives us great joy, and rewards the hard work we have done to produce a quality olive oil and make it known as much as possible.

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 4,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Agoureleo Chalkidikis using traditional methods. Marmaro earned the Silver Award for its medium Chalkidiki.
"We are a very new company and the Chalkidiki variety that we cultivate, although it is known for its large table olives, is not so well known for its olive oils," co-owner Dimitrios Garofallos said. "This award for the second consecutive year gives us great joy, and rewards the hard work we have done to produce a quality olive oil and make it known as much as possible."
Garofallos added that receiving the Silver Award was a relief after a hot and dry end to the summer concerned him about the development of the oil in his olives.
"Although our olive groves are irrigated, the very dry-thermal conditions that prevailed in August and September frightened us a lot for the quality of the olive oil," he said. "However, we achieved the result we wanted."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
