Situated on the island of Brač, off the southern Croatian coast, the producer earned its debut World Competition accolade for a medium blend of Oblica, Mastrinka and Levantinka olives.
"Winning an award at the NYIOOC signifies a new, even greater challenge to grow in all aspects, primarily in maintaining the quality and satisfaction of our customers but also in furthering our efforts in marketing and improving the quality of our product packaging," said owner Matija Aviani.
In the 2023/24 crop year, Familia Olive Oil produced 750 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"The shortage of labor force is a significant problem," Aviani said. "However, it is often skillfully mitigated by family and friends who come to help with the harvest."
