Crea Farms Triumphs with Coratina in New York
Japanese producer Crea Farm has won its fifth award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

Located southwest of Tokyo, Crea Farm earned its first Gold Award for a medium Coratina. The brand previously earned Silver Awards from 2019 to 2021. Its Koroneiki monovarietal also won a Silver Award in 2021.
"Winning a Gold Award at the NYIOOC is truly an honor, and it fills me with a sense of pride and accomplishment," co-owner Tatsuya Okumura said.
"This recognition will motivate the team to continue striving for excellence in their production and inspire other producers to aim for excellence, thereby improving the overall quality of olive oil on the market," she added.
Okumura said producing extra virgin olive oil in Japan is always challenging, and the 2022/23 crop year was no exception.
"Each year brings new challenges, such as pests, diseases and unfavorable weather conditions," she said. "It takes a great deal of knowledge and experience to identify and address these problems to identify and address these problems effectively."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
