Agricola Pobeña Wins 3 Gold Awards in New York
Chilean producer Agricola Pobeña has won three more awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are very happy and honored to receive these awards. This speaks of our consistency over time and the result of many years of work.
José Reyes, sales manager
Located in the fertile O'Higgins region of central Chile, the producer of the Alonso brand earned two Gold Awards for a delicate Picual and medium Coratina and a Silver Award for a delicate blend.
"We are very happy and honored to receive these awards," said José Reyes, the company's sales manager.
Agricola Pobeña previously earned three Gold Awards at the 2021 NYIOOC and a Gold and Silver Award in 2020.
"This speaks of our consistency over time and the result of many years of work, which motivates us to continue to focus on high quality and the commitment that we have with our consumers, to always deliver the best quality extra virgin olive oil," Reyes said.
In the 2021/22 crop year, Agricola Pobeña produced 550,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Along with many other producers in Chile, Reyes said the country's ongoing drought is one of the company's most significant challenges.
"We are facing a major drought, as well as high temperatures, so the main thing is to manage the water in the best way to maintain stable production," he said.
