Tenuta Giannone Awarded for Delicate Blend
Sicilian producer Tenuta Giannone has won a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This result gives us further motivation to maximize the quality of our products, always combining the needs of our clients with sustainable agriculture principles and the Mediterranean traditions

The company earned the award for its il Salto brand, a delicate blend of the endemic Tonda Iblea and Verdese olives.
"As a small artisan farm, we are honored to have received this award from such a prestigious and selective international competition as the NYIOOC," co-owner Santo Giannone said.
"This result gives us further motivation to maximize the quality of our products, always combining the needs of our clients with sustainable agriculture principles and the Mediterranean traditions," he added.
For Giannone, this year's award is especially gratifying after the tough climatic conditions faced throughout the previous crop year.
"The biggest challenge in all the Mediterranean area faced during the 2021/22 harvest was the limited rainfalls," he said. "Our 'smart' and sustainable water irrigation system, together with the use of ad hoc organo-mineral products, are the keys to success which always contribute to producing our delicious artisan extra virgin olive oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
