Oro Del Desierto Wins 5th Straight NYIOOC
The Andalusian producer of Oro Del Desierto has won two Gold Awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We are so happy, especially as the U.S. market has been growing for our brand over the past few years. The results are good, but there's always room for improvements, so we'll try even harder next year.

The company earned awards for Oro Del Desierto Picual and Oro Del Desierto Organic Coupage, an organic blend. It was the fifth consecutive year that both oils won at the competition.
"We are so happy, especially as the U.S. market has been growing for our brand over the past few years," owner Rafael Alonso said. "The results are good, but there's always room for improvements, so we'll try even harder next year."
In the 2019/20 season, Alonso produced 185,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Alonso said that 2019 was a particularly fruitful year on his farm, with a bountiful and high-quality harvest.
"This has been a good season in terms of quantity for us, also with more rain than usual, which in a desert area like ours is a treasure," he said. "We harvested in October and November, enjoying great conditions for the fruits as usual."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
