Olivopampa Triumphs in NYIOOC Debut
Brazilian producer Olivopampa has won its first-ever Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This award really means a lot because we are testing our results against top players in the olive oil world for the first time.
Fernando Rotondo, owner
In 2020, the company produced less than 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Rio Grande do Sul from Arbequina, Manzanilla and Frantoio olives using traditional methods. Olivopampa earned the Silver Award for its its Ouro de Sant'Ana Novello brand, a medium blend.
"This award really means a lot because we are testing our results against top players in the olive oil world for the first time," owner Fernando Rotondo said.
For the producers behind Olivopampa, the Silver Award is all the more gratifying after springtime frost damaged some of the trees and led to a lower yield.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
The complete list of winners can be viewed on the Official Index of the World's Best Olive Oils.
