5 years agoBy Olive Oil Times

Kallas First Press from Canada has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. The recognition brings the company's all-time wins to five in the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

We are very excited about winning again this year. We have yet to take our olive oil to market, but we are assured that when we do, we have an award-winning product.

Nikos Kallas, CEO, Kallas First Press

The winning oil was Kallas First Press, an organic delicate blend produced in Greece that has won twice before.

"We are very excited about winning again this year. We have yet to take our olive oil to market, but we are assured that when we do, we have an award-winning product," company CEO Nikos Kallas said.

The company uses traditional methods to produce organic extra virgin olive oil in Lakonia, Greece, from a blend of olives. This year Kallas First Press produced 3,000 liters of oil from 200 trees.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
