Tuscan Producer Bramasole Wins Gold Again

4 years agoBy Masha Richart

Bramasole Olive Oil took a Gold Award again for its medium blend at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. This is the fifth win for the oil at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

[It's] great to have been included in such an august company of olive producers.

Edward Mayes, Co-Owner, Bramasole

The five-time winning oil was Bramasole, a medium intensity blend produced by The Tuscan Sun in Toscana, Italy.

Climate conditions were a hindrance during the 2019/2020 season, co-owner Edward Mayes said on learning of the win.

"The heat in the spring affected the flowers," Mayes said.

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Toscana, Italy, using traditional methods.

"[It's] great to have been included in such an august company of olive producers," Mayes said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
