Turkish Producer Awarded for Outstanding Ayvalik
Turkish producers Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri A.S. from Turkey received a Silver Award for a monovarietal at the NYIOOC World, the globe's premier olive oil quality competition.
Our silver medal at the NYIOOC has been a tremendous joy for us. As a relatively young olive producer, this award has been an endorsement for our work to improve the quality of our work.
Mehmet Taki, Co-Owner, Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri A.S.
This year, the company produced 22,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from 18,000 Ayvalik olive trees using traditional methods.
"We had a relatively standard harvesting season, without specific challenges. As this year was our weak year, we have been able to conclude the harvest early," said company co-owner Mehmet Taki.
The company won a Silver Award for its Safitad, a medium Ayvalik.
"Our silver medal at the NYIOOC has been a tremendous joy for us. As a relatively young olive producer, this award has been an endorsement for our work to improve the quality of our work. We hope to further improve our quality and reach the gold medal in the coming years," Taki said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
