Madre Terra Cooperative was founded in 1944 by Accursio Miraglia, who was killed by the mafia three years later. Thanks to the farmers, the large estates were transformed into fertile and productive olive groves. Today, the cooperative boasts around 300 members and an area of 1,200 hectares planted with olive trees in the Sciacca region, an area delimited by the Val di Mazara PDO, where the native varieties, Cerasuola, Biancolilla and Nocellara, have grown for centuries.
