Waichiro Hattori planted olives on April 19, 1942, after cultivating the hills of Ushimado. He believed olives were valuable for food, medicine and lamp fuel. On June 1, 1949, he founded the Nippon Olive Co. and launched his first product: olive manon virgin oil, now known as olive manon olive oil for cosmetics. Today, the company offers over 80 food and cosmetic products, sold primarily at Ushimado Olive Garden, through mail-order, and at various events.
Receiving an award is very encouraging because it proves that we did not do anything wrong. We will not be satisfied with this award and will continue our trial and error process to produce more delicious oil in the future.
