The Slovenian producer earned the award for an organic medium-intensity Bianchera, its third-straight award at the competition.
"We feel honored to be recognized as one of the best producers of organic extra virgin olive oil," co-owner Timon Bratasevec said. "It gives us motivation and inspiration to continue our hard work."
Despite producing 5 tons of extra virgin olive oil in the 2022/23 crop year, Bratasevec confirmed that the company faced many challenges during the harvest.
"This year's challenge was deciding to harvest earlier than usual," he said. "We started in late September and risked quantity but were rewarded by quality in the form of aromas that really stood out."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
