Third Straight Triumph in New York for Atsas Organics
V. Atsas Organic Products from Cyprus has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
It is a great honor for us to be distinguished again this year at the NYIOOC. Every award for us is proof that the hard and methodical work of our team is paying off.
Anastasia Panteli, operations manager
Situated in the Mediterranean island's buffer zone, the company earned a Silver Award for its Silver Edition brand, an organic medium-intensity blend. The company earned Gold and Silver Awards in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
"It is a great honor for us to be distinguished again this year at the NYIOOC. Every award for us is proof that the hard and methodical work of our team is paying off," operations manager Anastasia Panteli said.
"Also, it is important for the reputation of Cypriot olive oils to be awarded in such a prestigious competition," she added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 4,820 liters of extra virgin olive oil from Koroneiki and Kalamata olives using traditional methods.
"The main problem we face is related to the effects of climate change on the various phenological stages of olive trees and their development," Panteli said. "This is a common problem for Cyprus, as it concerns olive producers and the majority of other producers."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
