The Manisa-based producer earned a Silver Award for its Olive Republic brand, a medium-intensity Arbequina.
"Winning at the NYIOOC is a dream come true," co-owner Fatma Gozlukaya Angi said. "When we started this olive oil business, we made winning at the NYIOOC one of our goals."
Like many other producers in Turkey, Solventum Danismanlik enjoyed a bountiful harvest.
"In general, 2022 was a good harvest season in Turkey," Gozlukaya Angi said. "For our estate, although it was a cold winter and frost hit some plantations in the region, our trees were kept safe."
"Drought was the most challenging problem we faced which seems to be a growing problem in the future," she added.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
