Sea-Aged 2Storije Victorious Again in New York

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

2Storije from Croatia has won another Gold Award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

Even though this is very hard work, winning Gold for the third time is proof that we do an excellent job and that we are on the right track with our quality.

Denis Plastić, owner

The Dalmatian producer, who ages his olive oils in barrels under the Adriatic Sea, earned its third-straight Gold at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its organic robust blend.

"Even though this is very hard work, winning Gold for the third time is proof that we do an excellent job and that we are on the right track with our quality," owner Denis Plastić said.

"Gold Awards are also recognition that organic and traditional cultivation is our future for those who respect high-quality extra virgin olive oil," he added.

Despite this year's success, Plastić said the ongoing drought in Dalmatia was a significant obstacle to producing award-winning olive oil.

"Even though the year was successful in the end, the biggest challenge we faced was a dry year without rain," he said.

"Therefore, we decided to invest in personal accumulation and an irrigation system in order not to depend on the weather," Plastić added. "With the support of the local government and European Union funds, we plan to finish this project next year."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
