The company produces extra virgin olive oil from Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino, Oblica and Pendolino olives using traditional methods. OPG Tomislav Perica earned the Gold Award for its medium blend, which previously won Silver Awards in 2019 and 2020.
"We are very proud that we can be part of the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition," owner Tomislav Perica said. "To win a Gold Award is a dream come true. Everything we did, we did with love, and this is the best reward."
Perica's company enjoyed a bountiful harvest, despite problems caused by the increasingly dry climate and Covid-19 pandemic.
"Despite the challenges of an ongoing drought and pandemic, this was another good year for our company," he said. "The olives were continuously delivered to the mill, ensuring that the production process was completed within two hours."
"This process ensured the high organoleptic quality and chemical parameters of our Gold Award-winning extra virgin olive oil," Perica added.
