The Istrian producer earned its fifth award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its medium-intensity Ča Istarska Bjelica.
"We are very pleased to win this award, especially after the troublesome weather we experienced this year," said owner Tone Grubešić.
In the 2023/24 crop year, Oleum Lavarigo produced 2,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods, overcoming a series of challenges in the process.
"After an enormous drought came days of constant rain, which helped the olive fruit fly population proliferate, but we managed to rein it in," Grubešić said.
