Mudrina Skradin Awarded for Fifth Time at World Competition
Mudrina Skradin from Croatia has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We are especially happy that we won a Gold Award because this year is our small jubilee, the fifth year that we have participated in the competition.

The Dalmatian producer earned a Gold Award for its Mudrina brand, a medium blend of Oblica and Krvavica olives. The brand has been awarded at the world's largest olive oil quality competition every year since 2019.
"We are especially happy that we won a Gold Award because this year is our small jubilee, the fifth year that we have participated in the competition," owner Dušanka Kolar said.
"The first Silver Award encouraged us to improve further," she added. "Today, we are an organic producer. We focus on original local varieties because we want to offer top-quality oil with a special taste."
In the 2022/23 crop year, using traditional methods, Mudrina Skradin produced 500 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Kolar cited climate extremes as her main challenge in producing award-winning oils.
"Last year was a big challenge due to prolonged droughts and high temperatures during July and August," she said.
"The olive trees are located in several locations, which is why the irrigation system is technically demanding and uneconomical to implement," Kolar added. "This is why we decided to help our olives overcome the stress in their own environment using organic methods."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
