OPG Garbin Awarded for Outstanding Oblica

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Croatian producer OPG Garbin has won its debut award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, a Silver Award for a medium Oblica.

"We're happy that we could be part of this contest," owner Tadej Maroević said. "We want to upgrade our olive oil production level, and this is definitely good for us."

In the 2022/23 crop year, OPG Garbin produced 400 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

Maroević said the award is especially important to them this year after a challenging harvest impacted by drought in the small European country. "There was not so much rain this year," he confirmed.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
