OPG Birin Wins Gold Award at 2023 NYIOOC
Croatian producer OPG Birin has won a second consecutive award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Winning a Gold Award at the NYIOOC is a confirmation of our excellent job at the global level and an incentive to continue working hard.

The Dalmatia-based family farm earned a Gold Award for its Birin Kravica brand, a medium blend. Last year, the company earned a Silver Award for an Obliva monovarietal.
"We regularly win gold medals at Croatian olive oil competitions, and it is a confirmation that we are one of the finest producers of premium extra virgin olive oils in Croatia," owner Stanko Birin said.
"Winning a Gold Award at the NYIOOC is a confirmation of our excellent job at the global level and an incentive to continue working hard," he added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, OPG Birin produced 1,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Birin said this year's harvest was a mixed bag, with some challenges and other significant advantages compared to previous ones.
"This harvesting year was much better than the previous one," he said. "The only challenge was the lack of rain during the summer, which resulted in smaller olive fruits."
"But, due to these conditions, there were no pests, and the fruits were perfectly healthy," Birin added. "The olive trees bore abundantly, and we had a really rich harvest in all olive groves."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
