5 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Olearia Zollo has won a Silver Award for its medium blend at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

For me it is an immense joy. Receiving an award in such an important global competition repays all the sacrifices and work done by my family and the people who work for Olearia Zollo around the world.

Costantino Zollo, owner

The Campania-based company produced 680,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino and Ortice olives in the 2019/20 season, using machine methods.

"For me it is an immense joy," owner Costantino Zollo said. "Receiving an award in such an important global competition repays all the sacrifices and work done by my family and the people who work for Olearia Zollo around the world."

He added that the producers were lucky this year, enjoying good weather and avoiding other production hurdles.

"Everything has gone well for us this year, with no illness or major challenges," Zollo said. "Also, the weather has been perfect."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
